In 2025 the population is about 10.7 million, the 90th most people of the 193 UN member states. That is about 1/12 of Japan’s (about 123 million).
The area is 438,574 km², the 56th largest of the 193. That is about the same as Japan’s area.
If we work out the number of people per square kilometer (population density), it is about 24.
Sweden joined the United Nations on November 19, 1946.
It was a member before Japan joined in 1956.
